Relieve Tooth Pain with Root Canal Treatment
Why Are Root Canals Needed?
What to Expect During a Root Canal Procedure
Your root canal treatment will begin with the administration of local anesthesia to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. To keep the area clean and dry, a rubber dental dam is placed around the affected tooth. The dentist will then carefully remove any decay until reaching the inner pulp of the tooth. Using specialized instruments, the infected or damaged pulp is removed, and the root canals are thoroughly cleaned.
Once the area is disinfected, a medicated material is placed into the canals to promote healing and prevent further infection. The access hole is then sealed with a tooth-colored composite filling, which is hardened using a special curing light. After the procedure is complete and the rubber dam is removed, you’ll be able to leave the office without the pain and sensitivity caused by the infection.
