Restore Your Smile with Dental Bonding
Bonding is a cosmetic dental procedure that allows your dentist to reshape or repair your smile using tooth-colored composite resin. It’s an excellent option if you feel self-conscious about your smile or are looking for a more affordable alternative to orthodontics or veneers. Bonding can easily and effectively fix chipped or uneven teeth, helping to restore your confidence. This treatment is typically completed in just one visit and usually does not require any anesthesia.
While bonding is a durable solution, it may wear or discolor over time and will eventually need to be replaced. However, with proper care, it can last for many years.
Common Uses for Cosmetic Bonding
- Close gaps between teeth
- Repair chipped or cracked teeth
- Treat cavities with natural-looking results
- Even out teeth that are too short
- Protect exposed roots from gum recession
- Improve the appearance of severely stained teeth
What Does Dental Bonding Involve?
The dental bonding process begins by isolating the teeth involved and applying an etching solution to prepare the surface. This solution creates tiny crevices that help the bonding material adhere more effectively to the tooth.
Next, a tooth-colored bonding resin is applied to cement the composite in place. The dentist then builds up the tooth by applying several layers of composite resin. Each layer is carefully shaped and hardened using a special curing light. Once the final layer is set, the bonded area is smoothed, polished, and blended to match the surrounding teeth for a natural-looking result.
